Happy Feetball Safeguarding Policy

At Happy Feetball, we are committed to providing a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for all children, young people, and families who take part in our activities. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and we recognise our duty of care to protect every participant from harm, abuse, or neglect.

Our Commitment

  • To ensure the welfare and safety of every child who attends our sessions, parties, camps, and events.

  • To create an inclusive environment where children feel valued, respected, and able to reach their full potential.

  • To work in partnership with parents, carers, schools, and the community to keep children safe.

  • To ensure all staff, coaches, and volunteers understand their responsibilities in safeguarding.

Responsibilities of Staff and Coaches

  • All staff and coaches will be appropriately vetted, including enhanced DBS checks, references, and safeguarding training.

  • Staff are expected to always act as positive role models, showing respect, fairness, and integrity.

  • Any concerns about a child’s welfare will be taken seriously and reported to the designated safeguarding officer without delay.

  • Physical contact with children will be kept to what is appropriate and necessary for coaching purposes only.

Safe Environment

  • Sessions will be delivered in safe, supervised environments with appropriate ratios of adults to children.

  • Equipment and facilities will be checked regularly to ensure they are safe and suitable.

  • Children must wear appropriate footwear and clothing for all activities.

  • Parents and guardians are encouraged to remain nearby or provide clear emergency contact details.

Code of Conduct

We expect everyone involved in Happy Feetball – children, parents, staff, and visitors – to uphold our values:

  • Respect for others on and off the pitch.

  • Fair Play in games and activities.

  • Inclusion of all children, regardless of background, ability, or needs.

  • Zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour.

Responding to Concerns

  • Any suspicion or disclosure of abuse will be taken seriously.

  • Staff will not promise confidentiality but will reassure children that their concerns will be handled sensitively.

  • Concerns will be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Officer, who will follow appropriate procedures in line with local safeguarding guidance and statutory requirements.

  • We will work with external safeguarding partners if necessary to protect children’s welfare.

Supporting Families

Happy Feetball recognises that safeguarding is a shared responsibility. We will:

  • Communicate openly with parents and carers about expectations, responsibilities, and codes of conduct.

  • Provide clear information about activities, pricing, and safety arrangements.

  • Encourage parents to share any concerns, feedback, or additional needs their child may have.

Review of Policy

This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation, guidance, or organisational needs change.
